The Saint Teresa of Calcutta Award, formerly known as the Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Award, is intended to focus public attention and confer recognition to those who, like Blessed Teresa, have dedicated a significant portion of their lives in the service of the “poorest of the poor” and have served, and shall continue to serve, as an inspirational, living example to the world.
The award search and selection is an annual project of the JCI Philippines – Manila and the AY Foundation, Inc. since 1983.
This year’s awardee shall receive a cash grant of five hundred thousand pesos, at least half of which should go to a charitable institution of his or her choice, along with the special donation of 500,000 pesos worth of goods and services.

QUESTIONS (FAQ)
Who may be qualified for the Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Award?
Any
living individual, regardless of race or religion, who has dedicated
himself fully and selflessly to humanitarian work among the poor, the
orphans, the dying, the handicapped, the unwanted, the oppressed, the
aged, and other less privileged Filipinos for at least 25 years.
How
can an individual be nominated?
Nominations may be made by any
individual, institution, association, or organization through the
downloadable nomination forms.
How is an awardee
selected?
The Saint Teresa of Calcutta Award Committee is the
governing body of the entire project, and shall conduct a preliminary
screening of the nominees by discussing the merits of each and every
candidate, to ensure that each one has complied with all the
requirements. The Committee then forwards the results of its
deliberation to a separate Board of Judges, who, in turn, shall
select the recipient/s of The Saint Teresa of Calcutta Award 2017.
The Board of Judges shall be composed of illustrious individuals of
unimpeachable integrity and have similarly distinguished themselves
in their chosen field of endeavor.
What are the selection
criteria?
The primary basis for the selection of the
recipient/s of the Saint Teresa of Calcutta Award is the extent to
which the nominee has humbly, and without seeking gratification,
devoted at least 25 years of his life in the service of the less
fortunate members of the Philippine society. Moreover, he/she must
possess unquestionable integrity and simplicity of lifestyle
following the example of the late Saint Teresa of Calcutta.
