One of the biggest parties on the planet happens every March 17th , when people take to the streets to celebrate  Saint Patrick’s Day.  A national holiday in Ireland, it commemorates the arrival of Christianity in the Emerald Isle.

St. Patrick’s Day all over the world

In Ireland, where the tradition originates, the celebrations, parades, and parties can go on for days. But in other parts of the world, Saint Patrick’s Day, also known as    St. Paddy’s Day, lasts only for twenty-four hours.

In countries such as the US, the United Kingdom, Brazil, Argentina, Australia, and New Zealand, the day is seen as a celebration of Irish culture. Well known Irish who have made a huge imprint in the hearts of Filipino fans include MMA fighter Conor McGregor; Irish rock band Kodaline who will be headlining the coming Wanderland; the late Dolores O'Riordan of Cranberries; and even our guilty pleasures ---popular boy bands Westlife and Boyzone.

Filipinos and St. Patrick’s Day

Most Filipinos can relate with the Irish on several levels. Both cultures share a love of good food, know the value of spending time with friends over a drink or two, and value a day’s worth of hard work.

Both Pinoys and the Irish are also generally good-natured, friendly people. They value family ties, and are quick to laugh and share stories about their day, even with complete strangers.

Another thing that Filipinos and Irish people are finding out they share: a liking for good Irish whiskey.  Jameson, the number one Irish Whiskey in the world, has come to our shores, and its distinctive smooth taste and light-hearted attitude has begun to win the local market over.  None more so than in thePoblacion locale where you will be likely to findpeople sipping on Jameson or its’ signature drink Jameson, ginger ale and lime.

Join the revelry on Saint Patrick’s Day, March 17 from to 2pm onwards at the Ruins and other bars around Poblacion, Makati.

In the Philippines, St. Paddy’s Day falls right around the start of summer, when things are beginning to heat up. That’s why Jameson Ginger Ale and Lime, its’ signature drink, is a perfect way to ring in the St. Patrick’s Day celebrations.

Smooth and the perfect blend of spice and sweet, it’s good to sip all the merry way ‘til morning. Bottoms up!
